Music Play-A-Thon

~ Event Chairs: Hannah Yang and Randy Frieling ~

*Two separate hospital events will be held in 2026. Students may participate in one or both.

  • DATES:
    • Saturday, January 17, 2026 – AdventHealth Orlando (Main Lobby)
    • Monday, January 19, 2026 – Orlando Health Cancer Institute
  • PLACES:
    • AdventHealth Orlando (Main Lobby), 601 E Rollins St, Orlando, FL 32803
    • Orlando Health Cancer Institute, 1400 S Orange Ave, Orlando, FL 32806
  • TIME:  Both events will be held from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Participating teachers will sign up for a block of time when their students will play. It is the teacher’s responsibility to make sure music is being played during that period of time.
  • PURPOSE: To raise money for the AdventHealth Child Life Specialist Department, Orlando Health Cancer Institute, CFMTA student scholarships, and to provide a community performance opportunity for Central Florida students.
  • CERTIFICATES PROVIDED: Each participating student will receive a Community Service Certificate acknowledging their participation and effort to this charitable event. Participation at one hospital counts for 2 community service hours; participation at both hospitals counts for 4 hours.
  • REPERTOIRE GUIDELINES: Teachers, please select appropriate pieces for students to perform. Repertoire should be neutral, peaceful, and calming, and should not increase stress or provoke strong emotional reactions. Please avoid songs with strong associations (e.g., Halloween Theme, Amazing Grace). Instrumental music is preferred, while vocal selections will be reviewed more carefully due to their stronger emotional impact. Before making a final choice, ask yourself: Does this piece evoke an overly strong emotional response? If so, it may not be appropriate.
  • MINIMUM DONATION:
    • $25 per performer (one hospital)
    • $50 per performer (two hospitals)
    • Donations will be given to each hospital respectively.

  • PLEDGES:  Additional funds raised may be contributed online or by cash or check (made out to CFMTA). To request the mailing address, please contact Hannah Yang.
  • DEADLINE: Registrations from teachers must be submitted electronically by Monday, January 5, 2026.

INFORMATION REQUIRED FROM THE PARTICIPATING TEACHER: A registration form complete with all your participating students listed, amount of time needed, and time-block requested. Online Music Play-a-Thon registration form is found below.

Teacher must combine minimum $25/student payments for all participating students from their studio into one payment to CFMTA by check or PayPal. For example, if you have 10 students participating, please submit one payment for your studio of $250 (minimum). Please DO NOT tell students to send checks individually to chairperson. Submit registration form electronically.

Donations beyond the initial $25 may be made individually by students, family members, friends, etc., through cash or check made out to CFMTA and submitted on the day of the event.

A schedule for you and your students will be organized the week of the event, and you will be informed of your assigned time that week.

The Music Play-A-Thon is a wonderful chance for students to share their musical gifts for a meaningful cause. Please begin planning by helping your students prepare a list of their favorite pieces. The music does not need to be memorized, but it should be performance-ready. Students are welcome to play classical, pop, holiday, movie, or duet music. Let’s work together to make this a successful event by encouraging our students to share their talents in support of this great cause!
