Fall 2025 Masterclass
Intermediate/Advanced Presenter: Yun-Ling Hsu, D. M. A. Date: October 11, 2025 Time: 4 - 5:30 pm Location: Piano Distributors 8114 South Orange Blossom Trail, Orlando, FL 32809 Application Deadline: October 4, 2025 Cost: $30/student (when accepted) Entrants must follow the Non-competitive Event Guidelines Yun-Ling Hsu is a Taiwanese-American pianist recognized for her exceptional technique, artistry, and diverse repertoire. She has served as a piano professor at the University of Central Florida, Rollins College, and as a graduate teaching assistant at The Ohio State University. In 2023, she was inducted into the Steinway Teacher Hall of Fame, served as President, USA–Florida at the World Piano Teachers Association in 2022, and currently serves as Vice-President of the Orlando Music Club while performing as pianist with the Orlando Contemporary Chamber Orchestra. Dr. Hsu holds Doctor of Musical Arts, MM, and BM degrees in piano performance.
She has made notable contributions through her performances, teaching, premieres of new music, adjudicating competitions, and presenting research across Europe, Asia, and the Americas. Her international appearances include the Danish National Academy of Music, Odeon Music Concert Hall (Denmark), Vianden Festival (Luxembourg), InterHarmony Festival (Italy), and piano festivals and competitions in Beijing, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, and Ürümqi (China), as well as the Sala Ignacio Cervantes Concert Hall in Havana (Cuba). Dr. Hsu has collaborated with renowned musicians and principal players from the New York Philharmonic and Chicago Symphony Orchestra, including Oleh Krysa (violin), Julian Bliss (clarinet), Øystein Baadsvik (tuba), Joseph Alessi (trombone), Philip Meyers (horn), Stanley Drucker (clarinet), and John Hagstrom (trumpet). She has been a featured presenter at the World Piano Conference and major U.S. music conferences, including the National Conference on Keyboard Pedagogy, College Music Society, MTNA, FSMTA, and NACWPI. Her students have excelled in international and U.S. competitions, earning prestigious prizes and scholarships, including the Fulbright Scholarship, Carmel Klavier International Piano Competition, MTNA, FSMTA, and NFMC State Competitions. Many have pursued music degrees at renowned programs and now flourish as pianists, educators, and music professionals. Since 2014, Dr. Hsu has directed theCentral Florida Piano Camp, offering an immersive college-level program for students ages 9 and older during summer in Orlando. |
Spring 2026 Masterclass
Advanced Presenter: Dr. Washington Garcia Date: April 25th, 2026 Time: TBA Location: TBA Ecuadorian-American pianist Washington García Eljuri began his musical studies at the age of six. He has studied under renowned teachers such as Genoveva Granja, Toshko Stoyanov, Ann Schein, Yoheved Kaplinsky, and Julian Martin. Dr. García holds a Bachelor of Music from the National Conservatory of Music in Ecuador, and both Master’s and Doctoral degrees from the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University. He graduated at the age of 25, becoming the youngest Latin American to receive a doctoral degree in piano performance from this prestigious institution. He is the recipient of the “Condecoración Dr. Vicente Rocafuerte,” the highest Cultural Achievement Award given by the Ecuadorian National Assembly, equivalent to the Presidential Medal of Freedom or Congressional Gold Medal in the United States.
Dr. García's successful debut performance at the age of six led to numerous performances at the most significant cultural centers in Ecuador. He has won first prizes at the Guillermo Wright-Vallarino National Piano Competition in Quito, the Elizabeth Davis Memorial Piano Competition, the 19th International Young Artist Piano Competition in Washington D.C., the 2004 Baltimore Music Club Piano Competition, and the Harrison Winter Piano Competition. As the Harrison Winter winner at the Peabody Institute, he was selected to perform with the Peabody Concert Orchestra. He was also a top prizewinner at the Yale Gordon Piano Competition and the Russell Wonderlic Piano Competition. From a very early age, Dr. García became a seasoned concert pianist, extensively performing throughout Ecuador. Since his debut with the Ecuadorian National Symphony Orchestra at age 15, he has been an active recitalist, soloist, and lecturer in prestigious venues across Italy, Switzerland, Austria, France, Spain, Hungary, Lithuania, Latvia, Canada, Chile, Mexico, Ecuador, Colombia, Japan, China, Indonesia, Singapore, Taiwan, and the United States. In the U.S., he has offered solo recitals and master classes in almost 30 states. |
