- Location: Piano Distributors
All members are invited to come to our first meeting of the 2016-2017 School Calendar Year! We are looking forward to a discussion on topics of interest to private music teachers, led by two of our own distinguished members.
Dr. Gloria Cook:
Gloria Cook holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music. She is a winner of numerous concerto competitions and has performed with the Springfield Symphony, the Hong Kong Philharmonic, the Cleveland Institute of Music Orchestra, the Charleston Symphony, and the Bach Festival Choir and Orchestra. She is currently on the faculty at Rollins College.
Cheryl began her piano studies at age four and, at six, transferred to the Cleveland Institute of Music. Her ability as a pianist was recognized early. At seven, Clavier magazine described her as having startling qualities of great talent. She made her major orchestral debut, at age eleven, as guest soloist with the Cleveland Symphony Orchestra. Since then, she has played in concert halls throughout North America and Europe. Ms. Tschanz has been a Fellow of the Tanglewood Summer Festival, and has received numerous prizes at international piano competitions. She was a professor of music at Colby College from 1991-2008, where she directed the piano and accompanying programs. She is a respected teacher, coach, adjudicator, and master class clinician. She maintains a private teaching studio, while continuing to be active as a soloist and chamber musician.
The Fall Prelude is also an opportunity to learn more about Central Florida Music Teachers Association, and its programs for teachers and for students. No pre-registration required, and the event is free.
